LLAMA: The “Look Listen And Make Art” Project
The LLAMA Project brings together a diversity of professional artists to share ideas, stories and experiences with each other and a diversity of community members. The focus of the exploration is on the influences of culture and change.
LLAMA works to give voice to people on issues that impact their place in the world. It encourages youth and community involvement, and celebrates diversity and innovation.
The LLAMA Project’s outreach programs and collaborations will lead to publications, exhibitions and web-based interactions. LLAMA outcomes will reflect our changing world and strive to shift perspectives and realities.
Current work: Voz/Voice
LLAMA is currently working on an international exchange which will bring together a diversity of professional artists from Canada and Mexico with community members. The two artist residencies and first exhibition, entitled “Voz/Voice: The arts of resistance and resilience,” are taking place in 2009.
The first of the LLAMA residencies will be in Mexico and the second in northern Canada. These residencies are a time for artists to make new work while exchanging ideas and thoughts with each other and with people in the community. Check out project updates and the photo gallery to learn more.
The Voz/Voice dialogues and discoveries will result in a body of work that will be first exhibited in Whitehorse, Yukon at the Yukon Arts Centre in November 2009.
